We would like to hold KYOTO ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIOLOGY CONFERENCE (KESC) in 2001 of the memorial year as the beginning of twenty-first century. With the new millennium ahead, the RC24 of ISA, Japan Sociological Society, Japanese Association of Environmental Sociology and Bukkyo University are honored to invite you to KYOTO ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIOLOGY CONFERENCE to be held on　October 20-23, 2001 at Bukkyo University in Kyoto, Japan.

As it is suggested in the theme of the conference, “New Directions for Environmental Sociology in the Twenty First Century,” the conference will provide you with a productive opportunity to meet new ideas of environmental sociology and old friends of environmental sociologists. Sociologists, regional planners, NGO activists, governmental officers, etc., from all over the world are expected to participate in this conference. There will be special academic programs which focus on the historical evolution, current state, and the future direction in the field of environmental sociology.

We are looking forward to meeting you in October , 2001 in Kyoto, our twelve-hundred-years ancient capital and the hometown in mind for all Japanese, surrounding with its rich cultures and natures.

LUNCHEON LECTURE AND CULUTURAL EVENTS

One of the highest Buddhism-Monk will honorably give a lecture on “Buddhism, Nature and Co-Living(tentative title).”

REGISTRATION FEES

Registration fees for the Conference will be US$200.

For those registering prior to May 31, 2001, the registration fee will be US$150 for a participant from OECD countries, and US$100 for people from non-OECD countries (JYP20,000 for Japanese participants, and JYP10,000 for students from Japan). A registration form is on the RC 24 Conference web-site.
